Derek Ostovani – Penguin Live Lecture

What will he teach?

Opener- A simple yet STRONG opener that will really set the tone! The magician explains that this is a basic in card magic where the card is selected, lost and shuffled in the deck. The spectator is asked to cut exactly where they think their card is and fails to find it. The magician turns it into a better trick and magically changes it into the selection! Is Magic? Is it psychology? Or is it blinding sleight of hand skill? It’s up to the spectator to decide!

Illusion & the Box- The 4 kings are magically produced and then used to create an illusion. A card is selected, signed, and placed in the box. One at a time, the 4 kings become the signed selected card. Then at the end when they think it’s an illusion because their card is still in the box, the true illusion is that you never had their card in the box because it’s really the 4 kings that are in there! A real kicker ending!

That’s why they call me King- A spectator is asked to pull out their favorite four of a kind, the Magician loses them and through a demonstration of skill finds all four and then turns them into the 4 Kings.

Coin to Ring- 3 coins get produced, vanish, and switch places with the Magician’s wedding ring. A stunning transpo filled with productions and vanishes!

Lie to Me- A prediction is made, a card is selected, lost in the deck, you ask the spectator to blatantly lie about their card and from that you deduce their actual card. At this point they’ve totally forgotten about the prediction, and that’s when you really hit them hard!! This is worth the price of the lecture!

Rubber Prediction- The Magician makes a prediction and sets it aside. A card is selected and lost and then the entire deck is wrapped with a rubber band, only to vanish and find itself in the center of the deck wrapped around their selected card. The prediction matches their card and the rubberband wrapped card doesn’t come alone, it brings along the mates for a great 4 of a kind finale!

The Diddle Trick- A very visual 2 phase biddle trick that will really destroy your audience! Phase one, they visually see their card vanish and end up back in the deck. Phase two, they assist in the vanish of their card and this time they see it ARRIVE in the deck!

What lies Beneath- A deck of cards is transformed into a lie detector. There is an on the fly set up, and the finale happens in the spectator’s hands!

Jiggernaut 2.0- A classic routine by Mark Jenest brought back to life, but this time with some extra loads and a shot pour at the end that is sure to be your most organic production!

Nicolas Pierri – Penguin Live Acts

“Nicolas Pierri is an incredibly talented magician whose passion for the art of magic is infectious. In his recent lecture for the Magician’s Forum, Nico taught us many effects that were not only very deceptive, but were also wrapped in meaningful presentations that are sure to engage audiences at an emotional level. You will come away from Nico’s lecture with material that you’ll be excited to perform.” -Rudy Tinoco – The Magician’s Forum President

“I met Nico through the Magician’s Forum. His online lecture revealed a very enthusiastic, knowledgeable and likable person. And he shares my love of the faro shuffle and its applications. You should check out his lecture. Great stuff!!!” -Mike Powers

What will he teach?

A 25-30 minute show with easy to acomplish (almost self working miracles), but very, very powerful Magic. Every effect leads to the next and the first piece is connected to the last, creating a full circle sensation of satisfaction.

I Came Prepared- Is an introduction to the complete act and will leave us with a recurrent laitmotive or running gag that will be used during all the act.

The Trick That Never Works- Its seemingly a funy card to my pocket gag but at the end everything makes sense and a thought of card magicaly travels.

Mystery Card- Here a mystery card will transform into a thought of card in a very interesting, entertaining, and mysterious manner.

Decisions- This is one of Nicolas’ pet routines. An spectator selects a card but then he find it by himself in the cleanest way you can think off and the whole routine has an inner deep meaning that will remind your audience of the power of magic and decisions for ever.

I Came Prepared (Part 2)– Now we will come back to that warranty we left aside at the begining of the show in the most magical way possible.

Jon Armstrong LIVE 3.1 (Penguin LIVE)

Maddie’s Trick- The entire audience is asked to think of a letter of the alphabet. One audience member reveals their letter, and you open a lunch pail to reveal dozens of playing cards in a variation of the old 52 in one gag. You dump the cards out of the pail, plucking one out of the air. When this card is unfolded it is revealed to have the same letter that the audience member chose. The best part is there is minimal sleight of hand and your audience genuinely has a free choice of any letter of the alphabet. Not only is this a real worker, but it will introduce you to some important new ways of thinking about stage craft in the online environment.

Step Master- This is a way to make the “which hand” game play from thousands of miles away. Two boxes are introduced along with a set of written instructions. The audience member chooses a box, and you follow the instructions of the game exactly as they are written. Inside the box that the spectator chose is a dollar. Inside the other box is hundreds of dollars that you get to keep. This effect is not only strong, but also easily lends itself to a variety of presentations to fit your show.

Silver Quick-A penetration effect for the online space. A coin penetrates through a sealed plastic bag, even after both have been proved to be solid.

Game Master-This routine is perfect for a group of people in the same room, even if they are thousands of miles away. A fun way to entertain and bring cohesion to your whole online audience.

Online Card Force Bootcamp- Get rid of complicated dealing procedures, messy mathematics, and card forcing methods that aren’t organic. I’m going to take you through the important nuances of peeking and forcing cards in your spectators hands over zoom, skype, discord, or any platform you choose. Many of these methods translate to the real world, and will make your card reveals that much more powerful.

Tech Section- I’m going to give you the basic rundown of how I set up my in-home studio that looks professional, but packs down into a small cabinet. We’ll cover how I was able to quickly and affordably set up a multicamera setup, with lights, audio, and even some fancy graphics to add production value to my online shows.

The Online Space- This is a new venue with new rules, and I’m excited to give you a crash course on what it takes to bring your magic online so you can continue to engage your audiences with high impact magic.
I will be focusing on performing magic through video chat apps, but much of what we will discuss applies to your in person shows as well. We’ll cover theory, tricks, scripting, presentation, technology and so much more. After building my own show to rave reviews, I’m ready to share with you the secrets to my success

Ryan Schlutz LIVE ACT (Penguin LIVE)

“Ryan always brings something fresh to the table – and everyone will be served! If you like killer technique, he delivers.” -Paul Richards

“I love Ryan’s magic. His material is always fun and fooling.” -John Guastaferro

What will he teach?

A Self-Working approach to Parlor Magic

Fame and Fortune – This is Ryan’s Opener to build instant report with the audience. You ask the audience to fill in the details of your chance encounter with a celebrity. Then as an unexpected twist you produce a picture of the crazy scenario they just created.

Life Hack Deck – Do you have several effects you liked to perform in a set but have no clue how to structure them together? Using the Life Hack Deck principle you will learn how to do just that.

Before the Thought (Black Envelope) – This effect recently won Ryan an award for best trick at the convention. Spectator has absolute free choice of a card from the deck they are holding but despite the freedom the card they choose matches a prediction card set aside before they even picked a card!

Random Happenings – This is Ryan’s approach to a book test. He’s taken his passion for chaos in card magic and combined it with a historically structured effect to a very fooling outcome.

Super Fair Card Trick – Gloves, Blindfolds, foil blankets and whatever else it takes to create

Chris Korn LIVE 2 (Penguin LIVE)

Kennedy Said So- Chris’s handling of the translocation plot where coins vanish from one side of the table and reappear on the other.

A Time For Outs- A Triumph style routine where a number between one and five is called for. The magician leads the audience down the garden path shuffling face up into face down with some very convincing displays, before finally restoring the deck to face all the same way except for the four of a kind that matches the number called for.

One Jack Off- A production of an apparently called for four of a kind, followed by a transposition effect where a selected card vanishes from between the four of a kind only to jump into the spectator’s pocket and then again change places with the four of a kind. This is deceptive impactful card magic.

Tell Me I’m Wrong- Korn’s approach to the classic two card transposition where the audience tells you where the cards should be only for them to trade places.

One to the Tenth Power- A masterpiece coin flurry that top pros have been calling on him to release for years. This gimmick free, pure sleight of hand routines is a knuckle buster, but you’ll learn everything that makes this what the best coin workers in the business have been wanting to learn. One coin is introduced, and vanished and reappears at the performer’s will. It jumps from elbow to elbow, visually vanishes from one hand only to appear in another. Suddenly the magician splits the coin, then produces another and then four… five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten coins in rapid succession before every single coin vanished in an instant. It’s a masterpiece and Korn is finally tipping all of the work.

Beginnings, Middles and Ends-  These are the tips and touches that can be added to existing tricks. These are practical ways to make your routines or tricks more powerful.
Chris teaches how to steal and load stacks of coins off a table right under the audience’s nose. Also, a super clean backfire sequence that plays with sound in ways you’ll use to kill your audiences.
Back to the cards for a moment where you’ll learn one of the most powerful applications of the Rub a Dub vanish where the card vanished from underneath your spectators hand.

Finally Chris teaches something he’s held onto for twenty years: it’s his method for making your audiences actually feel an object appearing inside their hand.

Inaki Zabaletta LIVE ACT (Penguin LIVE)

“Iñaki Zabaletta’s Live ACT is “must have”. All the material is very strong, well proved with many, many types of audiences and very practical. Very seldom will you find such a complete artist that can do close-up, stage, parlour and children at such a great level. I particularly have been doing “Silkeny” for the past 11 years and it’s still a blast and very difficult to take out of my repertoire. Please do yourself a treat and get this Penguin Live ACT, and you will instantly have a profesional act that is amazing!” -Manuel LLaser

What will he teach?

Parlor and Stage Act:

No Way bottle production. Bottle production without jacket.

Impostors: two jokers change to spectator´s selected cards

Sylkeny: Colour changing routine with fake explanation and a special ending.

Psyco: Card stab routine Malini´s style. The highlight of the routine is that the spectator shuffle the cards on the table (scrablle the cards) and inmediately after that the magician stabs the cards.

R&B phenomena: Out of this world for parlour and stage conditions.

Bill, nut, egg and orange: profesional and practical handling for this wonderful classic.

Scott Green LIVE ACT (Penguin LIVE)

Underpants Opener—a new use for an old prop that establishes your character and teaches the audience what to expect and how to behave for your show by seemingly putting the children in the drivers’ seat.

Not-A-Snake—a hilarious sucker trick the children will bite hard on that has adults at the edges of their seats to see how you’ll inevitably flip the script and fool everybody.

Bank Night—inspired by Stephen Bargatze’s excellent I Hate Kids routine (and with Stephen’s endorsement), this one-in-a-hundred bank night makes the whole audience think you’ve merely set them up for a joke… until the super strong kicker. Uses a simple method every magician already knows how to do.

Grandpa Was A Kleptomaniac—a hysterical Mutilated Parasol routine in which every element is motivated.

Rocket Book—a literal twist on a familiar principle—however the book is turned, the pictures remain right-side up. Also incorporates a single Topsy Turvy Bottle for a kicker ending that gets audiences screaming.

Spirit Slates/Rising Wand—a classic of spiritualism gets a hilarious makeover, thanks to a well-motivated magic wand.

Crayon Trick—a closer in which the magician seems to teach the audience a magic secret, until an impossible twist that’s been in plain sight since the beginning of the show.

Bonus: will also go over Catalog of Broccoli, Homework Trick, Progressive Coloring Book, Coloring Book
