What is the Peek?

The Peek is a new deceptive technique that allows you to peek information from playing cards or business cards. A very easy Peek; once you learn it, you will be able to do it anytime, anywhere! All you need is an ordinary and un-gaffed business cards, playing cards or blank cards – no gimmicks or DIY – completely impromptu. The spectator’s cards are clearly placed in the centre of the stack and stays there the entire time.

FOLD #1

A card is selected and the spectator shows it to her friends. (It’s the Ace of Diamonds! Shhh!) The magician draws attention to the intricate pattern on his hip black t-shirt and mentions that the pattern is “a combination of a Rorschach inkblot and a crystal ball.” The audience is skeptical, but the magician asks everyone to stare at the pattern and concentrate on the image of the selected card. “Do you see it on my shirt?” he asks. When everyone admits they don’t, the magician offers to “make it a little easier to see” and with a single fold of the shirt the image of A SINGLE LARGE DIAMOND suddenly appears!

FOLD #2

Everyone is still freaking out over the appearance of the Ace of Diamonds shape when the magician suggests, “Let’s try it again.” This time someone only PEEKS at a card (it’s the Two of Hearts) and holds the pack in their own hands. Once again the performer asks the spectator to concentrate on the card they have in mind and focus on the front of the black t-shirt. And again, with just a single quick fold of the shirt TWO LARGE HEARTS appear!

4 Aces are shown and another card is selected and lost in the deck. The magician starts to perform an oil and water trick with those 4 Aces, and finally turns them into 1 single card – the selected card.

Oil & Water C:
8 cards are shown, 4 red and 4 black. After being separated, they’re instantly mixed up among themselves. The magician then takes 4 of them, 2 red and 2 black. After a snap, all of them become red. With a second snap, they’re all black. Then the magician puts 4 of the black cards back in the 8 card stack, and they return to their mixed up position.

Bets by Jean-Pierre Vallarino

You place some bills/bank notes on the table and offer the spectator a challenge using HIS deck and YOUR money. The spectator is then free to mix, shuffle and cut his cards as many times as he wants.

The Challenge is very simple: If he cuts to your lucky card (which is mathematically highly unlikely), you win the bet and keep your money. If he does not cut to your lucky card, he wins the bet and takes the money. This means he has 51 chances to win and you only have one… However, you never lose!!!

You announce your lucky card (For example: the Queen of Spades). This is done while the spectator is shuffling and cutting his own deck. The spectator now officially cuts the deck for this bet, and the chosen card is set aside. When the card is turned over, it is YOUR lucky card! Impossible!

  • Can be used as a prediction
