Andrew Frost – By Forces Unnoticed

By Forces Unseen is one of my favourite books on the subject of card magic. I have always loved how the author never compromised on difficulty to achieve his aim of clean, visual card magic. In this project I revisit some of my favourite tricks from the book to try and make the handling more congruent with the way that I handle cards.

There is some very difficult stuff in this project and practice will be required, however I break every move down in detail giving you the tips and shortcuts, allowing you to learn these moves quicker.

Pluck by Christian Grace

Pluck - Christian Grace - Vanishing Inc. Magic shop

The effect is the stuff of legends: a GE—NUINELY free choice of any card is hopelessly lost in the deck. The magician then cascades the cards to the table and “plucks” just two cards from the cascade…but neither are the selection. Instead, the plucked cards form a number–a Two and a Six, 26–and the selected card is found at that position in the pack! The spectator can deal the cards and the two cards plucked from the middle really are caught from a cascading spread. No breaks or special cards are required.

No gimmicks
Easy to do

Resigned to Miracles by Peter Groning (Ebook)

If you were secretly given a playing card that had the genuine signature of someone in your audience, and no one knew or even suspected it existed, would you have a use for it? We thought so. And what if the method for obtaining this signed card happened to be an incredibly strong, 100% practical card effect? And what if the only props you needed to do all this were playing cards and a normal marker? No expensive or soon-outdated high-tech. And what if this utility principle and trick came with a number of other incredibly strong, utterly impossible-seeming card tricks using spectators’ signed cards, just to get your own creative juices flowing? If all this sounds like something you could use, Resigned to Miracles is your book.

Resigned to Miracles introduces a method for secretly obtaining genuine signatures from one or two spectators on the backs of playing cards. No one suspects these signed cards exist, not even the people who signed them! The signatures are obtained in performance, without backstage technology or copying methods. They are originals, not copies. Armed with these signed cards, extraordinary effects can be yours, effects that no one will expect or can explain.

The Five Acts by Nicolas Pierri

Latin American FISM Prize winner Nicolas Pierri presents a fun and easy to do card trick where the audience loses their own card in the deck before finding it themselves in The Five Acts. This easy to do card trick is deeply fooling with a presentation that has comedy built into it’s psychology.

Here’s what happens:

1. The spectator freely shuffles the deck,
2. and then select any card they want.
3. The card is lost in the deck
4. then cut three ways and reassembled by the spectator.
5. A second spectator names a number, which they then deal down to and find the selected card.

There really are no gaffs, and this can be performed with a borrowed shuffled deck that doesn’t even need to have all the cards! In addition to teach a variety of handlings Nico goes into his philosophy around not just how this effect is constructed, but the symbology he has infused into the routine. Grab a deck and prepare yourself to perform The Five Acts.

“Finally, you can do a coin bend with only one hand – without being an actual superhero.”
– GREGORY WILSON

“Watching Menny Lindenfeld bend metal is like watching real magic. Ox Bender is serious artillery for the serious mentalist — it’s deceptive, practical, and powerful.”
– DOUG McKENZIE

“If I told you [that you] could bend signed coins using just one hand, you wouldn’t believe it. But it’s true. When you try it the first time, you won’t believe you’re actually doing it. Menny Lindenfeld is an ingenious inventor and one of the top thinkers in the field of metal bending. His Ox Bender is a clever James Bond-like device you will love using. CTG by Peter Eggink Tutorial

Dynamo called it the best effect of Blackpool 2019: Peter Eggink’s CTC project.

Peter’s “hands off” approach to the “Coin Through Can” sold out in literally hours upon its worldwide release in 2019.

Through the year, Peter has been taking this concept and developed it even further only to come back better and stronger: a re-design of this fantastic concept now implemented in the classic “Coin Thru Glass” effect.

A classy, sophisticated version which will blow your spectator’s minds. This is the ultimate “in the hands” experience that will create some long lasting memories.effect:

After your favorite card magic, you borrow a coin from your spectator. Both you and your spectator initialize the coin. Next, the spectator is given the card box to hold and to isolate the surface of the box, a glass is placed on top of it.
