Jurassic Deck by Peter Eggink

The magician shows a deck of 52 different cards. Different movie Titles are boldly written black on the red back of each card. A movie collector’s club prediction card is placed on the table in full view. The magician says “Since I’m a huge movie fan, I wrote the names of 52 of my favorite movies of all time on the back of each playing card. I did this for a reason though. If I can’t decide which film to watch, I just pick a card and go with whichever one is on the back”. The magician continues “I’m now even able to predict a movie.. allow me to show you what I mean”.

The magician spreads the deck face up and a spectator is asked to pick any card they see at random (no force). The spectators freely chosen card is placed face up next to the tabled prediction. Magician: “If the movie represented by your freely chosen card matches the movie which is on my prediction card, wouldn’t that be impressive?”

The prediction is turned face up by the spectator, to reveal the movie “Casablanca”….the spectator’s card is turned face down to reveal that “Jurassic Park” is printed there. It seems the magician screwed up, as the prediction and the spectator’s chosen card do not match. However, the magician waves the whole deck verse the chosen card, and when the deck is turned face down and spread out, the whole deck of cards is changed into a “Jurassic Deck” of cards, matching the chosen card.

When the cards are placed back into the box, even the card box changes to the theme of the movie!

Counting Crows by Daniel Madison

Counting Crows by Daniel Madison

Counting Crows is Daniel Madison’s variation of a classic plot, the card at any number. This is a plot that frustrates plenty of magicians, because it just doesn’t seem very magical. Producing a chosen card at a chosen number feels more like a stunt, not an illusion.

Daniel Madison changes that. His approach to the CAAN routine packs a mystifying punch at the end. Instead of producing a certain card at a specific spot, you’ll produce a card of the same value at that chosen spot, then make a four-of-a-kind unfold from your hands.

This is a handling that lets you turn clever card handling into a visual phenomenon. The principle behind the effect will open up some interesting avenues that Black Club members should know how to handle.

This effect was a giveaway for attendees at the Magic Live convention, held in August in Las Vegas. But we think that old saying about what happens in Vegas shouldn’t apply to Black Club members.

Bullseye by Brent Braun

So there you are hanging out in a pool hall or a pub, when someone wants to see something amazing. Never the type to disappoint, you have them select and sign a card. Then they shuffle it back into the deck.

With no idea where the card is, casually you walk over to the dart board, with the shuffled deck in one hand and a dart in the other. The cards are tossed into the air. The dart is thrown through the cards were it sticks into the dart board, with a little something special… their signed card!

BROTHERS-VERYFAIR

This mind-reading trick is VERY good… but the method? It’s INGENIOUS. A once-in-a-lifetime discovery. Learning the secret, I felt like I had just been struck by lightning.

Not only will you smile from ear-to-ear when you learn how to predict a THOUGHT-OF word, but you’ll actually start performing it, and you probably won’t stop. It’s impromptu AND plays equally well for 2 as it does for 2,000.

It’s called VERY FAIR, and it is absolutely true to its name. You write 2 words “Very” and “Fair” on 2 pieces of paper. You let someone secretly choose one. And it REALLY IS A SECRET. Nobody, NOT EVEN YOU know which word they picked… and yet somehow… you are able to tell them, with COMPLETE CONFIDENCE which word they thought of. It’s just …. my favorite new trick in a LOOOONG TIME.

You’ll learn multiple ways to present it, for example making the thought-of word vanish, and more. I like to keep it 100% mind-reading. To ratchet up the tension, I like to wager some money on the prediction!

This trick is worth your time, and a thing of beauty.

Justin Miller – Decent

A torn card visually restores in an instant.

Descent is the most visual torn and restored card routine we’ve ever seen.

Justin Miller has taken a classic of card magic and tweaked every aspect of it to arrive at an absolutely beautiful, flawless routine. A card is selected and signed, before being cleanly and unmistakably torn, piece by piece, into a packet of four torn pieces.

The signature is clearly ripped in half, the pieces are even handed back to the spectator to hold. The magician attempts to restore it in the spectator’s hands… unsuccessfully. Taking the pieces back, he resets the routine – the four pieces instantly changing into the single, signed, restored card.

Words just don’t do this effect justice. The restoration you’ll learn in this trick – as seen in the trailer – speaks for itself. It’s one of those singular moments of magic that make you sit up and take notice. That inspires. Pick up Descent Now.

Luke Jermay – SUBDIVISION

four-spot is visually pulled to pieces leaving the magician with two two-spots in hand. These two-spots are then visually “split” into each of the aces.

A great way to open any four-of-a-kind trick. This attention-getting production is quick, magical, highly visual and can be done with any deck.
